LeithLate returns with an exciting LeithLate17 programme of visual art, theatre, poetry and live music! In addition to our new festival programme, we return with our annual sell-out mural tours and a brand new Public Poetry Trail! As well as returning to unusual Leith spaces such as a former Police Box and charity shop, we’re also bringing on board brand new venues including Trinity House’s underground vaults at the Kirkgate, social enterprise curry house Punjabi Junction, and the Leith Walk Launderette, it’s going to be a mighty fine year! We are of course kicking off the festival with our opening night, swiftly followed by annual LeithLate Afterparty, this year to be held at Henderson Halls and curated by Lost Map Records. Thursday 15th June 6-9pm, followed by afterparty:
The Thursday night of LeithLate17 sees the return of the huge one-night event that takes place across a host of different venues on and around Leith Walk. This year, we have artists participating across 25+ spaces during the course of opening night, full details of which are to be released later this week. This massive artcrawl is followed by the now-legendary LeithLate17 Afterparty from 9pm at Henderson Halls with live performances from Savage Mansion, Kid Canaveral, and tunes from Lost Map and LeithLate dj's, tickets available from here.
Friday 16th June 12-6pm, followed by In The Ink Dark:
In a continuation of our festival twinning with London’s longest running visual arts festival Deptford X, we've has matched up Deptford Cinema (Community Cinema of the Year 2016) and Leith Community Cinema to present a film programme surrounding the issue of gentrification at Pilrig Church. LeithLate17 is also host to the launch of a new ambitious production entitled In the Ink Dark by performance maker and choreographer Luke Pell in an immersive dance performance situated in the grand surroundings of the main auditorium of Leith Theatre, tickets available here.

Saturday brings music and art together with our bespoke exhibitions still running throughout Leith Walk and The LeithLate Critter Session at Out of the Blue joins the musical roster on Saturday, curated by Hailey Beavis. 'Club Tropicana’ the late-night festival party will close Saturday’s celebrations at Leith Franklin Cricket Club with electro DJs Davie Miller (FiniTribe) and more tba, tickets here.
Sunday 18th June 12-6pm, followed by Lane party:
On our final day of LeithLate17, we see the return of the annual sell-out Mural Tours with the artists in person discussing their artworks , we are also excited to present our latest tour, the Public Poetry Trail! The Public Poetry Trail will feature the work of Edinburgh Makar Christine de Luca, who will be reciting the poem in person to audiences. There is also the opportunity to celebrate Leith’s heritage with Custom House, Leith Theatre's Main Auditorium and maritime Trinity House all opening their doors to LeithLate17 goers on the final day of the festival! To close festivities LeithLate17 welcomes Custom & Excess; an inspired collaboration of Custom Lane, Paradigm and We Throw Switches. This event transforms the lane into an all-day summer party with DJ sets and unique mix of indie games with fun interactive experiences and Studio 19 at Custom House invite to discover Leith’s musical talents with their live intimate sessions.
In-depth information with regards to venues and exhibitions will be released closer to the event.
