For 2014, LeithLate has expanded to a two day event, with a longer timeframe, longer route and more venues stretching along both Leith Walk and Great Junction Street to our afterparty venue for this year - the Thomas Morton Hall on Ferry Road. LeithLate14 will take place on Saturday 21st June from 5pm-10pm and on Sunday 22nd June from 12pm-5pm, thus retaining the spirit of the original one-night event with a more family-friendly catch-up session the following day.
An additional LeithLate-curated outdoor exhibition in collaboration with Leith Walkers will be taking place during LeithLate14 sponsored by the City of Edinburgh Council, Economic Development. The full LeithLate14 programme will be announced in May.
LeithLate is an annual multi-arts event that takes place over multiple venues in the space of one evening, immediately followed by an afterparty with live music showcase. LeithLate is essentially one huge art opening and in previous years, has presented work by the likes of Kevin Harman, Katie Orton, Omar Zingaro Bhatia and Ross Fraser McLean, as well as showcasing bands such as John Knox Sex Club, Remember Remember and Sparrow and the Workshop. Now coming into its fourth year and, after winning the Creative Edinburgh award for Outstanding Creative Contribution by a Creative Organisation in 2012, LeithLate continues to go from strength to strength, firmly establishing itself as a hotly-anticipated event on the Leith calendar.
LeithLate also runs other events and initiatives throughout the year, in addition to its annual multi-arts event. This includes The Shutter Project, where contemporary artists create bespoke artworks on the shutters of local Leith businesses, and The Mural Project, which involves the creation of large-scale outdoor murals for Leith by a collective of fine art and street artists. Please check our Projects page for more information. LeithLate last took place on Thursday 13th June and the next annual event is scheduled for June 2014.
